With the passing of Thanksgiving, we are officially into Engagement Season (yes, it’s a real phenomenon!). Over 40% of proposals happen between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day, often centered around the Christmas holidays. Are you one of those lucky couples? Congratulations! We are so excited to celebrate your love story, and to provide one-of-a-kind wedding reception rentals.
If you’re recently (or soon-to-be) engaged, there are a few items you’ll want to tackle sooner rather than later. Take a look at our list of your first “To-Do’s” as an engaged couple:
- Celebrate! Savor a moment or two with your new fiancé (and that ring!), and then call your relatives and close friends on the phone to share the good news. Once your loved ones are in the know, you can share the engagement on social media too!
- Start thinking about a date. It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to set a specific date right away, but you’ll want to consider general ideas. Tons of people will start asking, “When’s the big day?” Even if you haven’t set a date in stone, you’ll want to have a response ready: “We’re considering a summer wedding, but haven’t narrowed down dates yet!” or “It looks like 2018 will be our year! We can’t wait.”
- Take care of the ring. Now is the time to handle any details concerning your ring. Make any resizing adjustments, and get it insured as soon as possible. Taking care of this task will give you one less thing to worry about!
- Now for the fun part… start dreaming up your wedding day style! Hit the Pinterest boards hard, and visualize your concept for the big day. Do you envision a romantic outdoor garden wedding? Or chic boho vibes? Will you be married in a church, under an outdoor archway, or at an out-of-the-box venue?Start thinking about the overall style for your big day. Once you’ve collected ideas, give your concept a name (i.e., Modern Industrial Metallic, Classic Ballroom Elegance, Urban Boho Chic). Write it down! Throughout the planning process, you can reference the concept name to help build a cohesive event style. If a décor item doesn’t fit one of your three keywords, it doesn’t belong at your wedding!
